Exercise
Pregnancy puts additional strain on the body causing many women to experience aches and pains that can be diminished with appropriate exercises. But, many women are apprehensive about exercising during pregnancy because of fear of injury to themselves or the fetus. The benefits of targeted exercises far exceed the risk of injury. In our prenatal exercise session, you will be taught safe exercises that target the vulnerable (and often weak) body parts such as the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles. An emphasis will be placed on improving body awareness, posture, and body mechanics in order to strengthen muscles, protect the joints and spine, enhance women's confidence in their bodies during pregnancy, and help women prepare physically and mentally for labor and delivery.

Nutrition
Making healthy food choices and continuing (or developing) healthy eating habits during pregnancy encourages appropriate weight gain, continued mobility, and an overall positive experience and outcome. Our registered dietitians will take you through the basics of eating for a healthy pregnancy, including important foods to include in your diet, what to avoid, how much extra food to eat each day, and how to eat for healthy (but not excessive) weight gain. They’ll also share tips on preventing or minimizing common pregnancy woes like morning sickness and constipation! You will be guided through the process of creating a personalized meal plan.Click here to visit the Postnatal Program page.
